This is a remote opportunity for a versatile in-house attorney to support a broad and dynamic legal portfolio within a national healthcare organization.
The role combines labor and employment counseling, commercial litigation, investigations, dispute resolution, and operational legal support.
You will work closely with senior legal leaders while partnering directly with HR, compliance, business stakeholders, physicians, vendors, and outside counsel.
The position offers meaningful exposure to complex matters and the opportunity to provide practical, business-focused advice in a fast-paced environment.
Success requires strong legal judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining a clear focus on risk mitigation.

Accountabilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal guidance on labor and employment matters, including terminations, leaves, accommodations, discrimination and harassment concerns, wage and hour questions, and workplace investigations.
- Support and manage employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings, including EEOC and state agency matters, arbitrations, and court proceedings, in coordination with internal leaders and outside counsel.
- Support commercial litigation and dispute resolution involving contracts, vendors, business partners, and other operational matters across the organization.
- Conduct and support internal investigations by gathering facts, interviewing witnesses, evaluating issues, and helping develop appropriate resolutions.
- Draft and review demand letters, litigation holds, position statements, legal correspondence, and other litigation-related materials.
- Partner with HR, compliance, and business stakeholders to proactively identify legal risks and develop practical strategies to mitigate exposure.
- Coordinate outside counsel engagements, helping ensure disputes and litigation are managed efficiently, strategically, and cost-effectively.
- Develop and improve internal legal processes, templates, training materials, and resources supporting employment compliance and litigation preparedness.
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to stakeholders and translate complex legal issues into clear recommendations and actionable guidance.
- Support the broader Legal Department with additional litigation, dispute resolution, employment, and general legal matters as business needs arise.
- Manage multiple active matters simultaneously, prioritizing effectively and escalating issues when appropriate.
- Travel up to approximately 25% as required.
Requirements:
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience, combining law firm and/or in-house experience with a demonstrated focus on labor and employment and/or commercial litigation.
- Proven experience handling or supporting employment disputes, workplace investigations, employment litigation, and commercial litigation or dispute resolution.
- Experience with administrative proceedings before employment-related agencies, including EEOC and state labor or civil rights agencies.
- Strong practical legal judgment and the ability to move effectively between different legal subject areas and matter types.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent matters in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.
- Experience working directly with HR teams, business stakeholders, senior legal professionals, and external counsel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in clear, practical business terms.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a hands-on approach and willingness to contribute across a broad legal docket.
- Sound judgment regarding risk assessment, prioritization, and when matters should be escalated.
- Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel; familiarity with litigation management or e-discovery platforms is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and maintain strong communication with distributed teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 25%.
