Xypher Group is a fast-growing Cyber security services businesses, serving the legal sector, law enforcement, public bodies, and commercial organisations. Our capabilities span computer and mobile device forensics, cyber incident response, penetration testing, cell site analysis, e-discovery, and specialist investigative services—delivered by highly skilled, accredited teams.

 

Following a period of substantial expansion, including three recent acquisitions within the cyber security sector, the Group is entering a strategic phase of integration, optimisation, and transformation. To support this next chapter, we are seeking a visionary CTO to unify our technology strategy, harmonise systems across the Group, and build a scalable digital infrastructure that accelerates growth and operational excellence.


Role Purpose

The CTO will provide strategic leadership across all technology functions, ensuring robust, secure, and future-ready IT operations that enable the Group’s mission and long-term ambitions. This role will shape and deliver an enterprise-wide technology roadmap, strengthen cyber and data governance, drive digital transformation initiatives, and lead the integration of systems across multiple business units.

 

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in highly regulated, security-focused environments, and thrives in a dynamic SME setting undergoing transformation and growth.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide IT and technology strategy aligned with Group objectives.
  • Establish and continuously enhance IT governance frameworks, policies, and operating processes.
  • Produce and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap encompassing BAU, organisational growth, and future innovation.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO frameworks, Cyber Essentials Plus) and support audit readiness.

Transformation & Integration

  • Lead digital transformation programmes across the Group, modernising systems, workflows, and IT capabilities.
  • Oversee technology integration activities resulting from recent and future acquisitions.
  • Drive improvements in data integrity, system validation, and information management practices.

Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Operations

  • Oversee the design, management, and optimisation of IT infrastructure, networks, cloud systems, and core platforms.
  • Strengthen the Group’s cybersecurity posture, including oversight of defensive operations, monitoring, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and continual improvement.
  • Ensure high availability, resilience, and reliability across systems and services.

Service Delivery & Projects

  • Ensure high-quality IT service management (ITSM) and user support across the organisation.
  • Lead the delivery of major technology projects from concept to completion, including system selection, validation, deployment, and change management.
  • Manage system maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.

Leadership & People Development

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT and technology function.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion best practice across the Group’s technical teams and stakeholder community.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to lead organisational change and guide teams through transformation, integration, and rapid growth.
  • Significant experience in a technical, scientific, or operational discipline within a regulated, security-critical, or quality-driven environment.
  • Strong track record of leading multi-disciplinary technology teams and delivering results through others.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations, quality systems, and relevant accreditations.
  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies, infrastructure design, cybersecurity principles, and IT operations.
  • Strong financial awareness with experience in budget planning, cost management, and resource allocation

Please note: Due to the nature of the role and our work, applicants will be required to be DBS checked, and able to pass a SC/NPPV3 security clearance check. To gain this level of security clearance you must have been resident in the UK for a continuous period of 5 years.
