The eMerge Director of Information Governance Advisory Services will help to lead eMerge’s client-facing information governance group, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and expert consulting services to our clients. The Director will collaborate closely with eMerge’s Collection, Data Consulting, and Custom Solutions teams to ensure alignment and effectively leverage eMerge’s technologies and approaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans for the growth of eMerge’s information governance advisory services, with a particular focus on client adoption of eDiscovery, data governance, and AI features within the Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace ecosystems.
Assist eMerge Managing Partner and Principals with setting, measuring, and achieving leadership and business goals for eMerge in the delivery of information governance advisory services to eMerge and firm clients.
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure eMerge is at the forefront of information governance and data management.
Lead and manage client engagements, providing expert advice to eMerge clients on information governance, eDiscovery readiness, AI, data management, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Analyze, draft, and revise client policies and procedures relating to information governance, records management, and AI that account for regulatory environment in which they operate.
Prepare internal- and external-facing training and business development materials on information governance, records retention, litigation readiness, and related topics, responding to pertinent RFIs and RFPs.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
Design and deliver tailored solutions to meet client needs, leveraging industry best practices and innovative approaches.
Develop and expand eMerge consulting services relating to data disposition and data migrations that combine technical and legal consulting and optimize Microsoft’s and Google’s information governance and eDiscovery offerings for clients.
Collaborate with firm’s Director of Information Governance to share findings and learnings for internal application within the firm as appropriate.
Assist eMerge Managing partner and Principals as needed with the day-to-day operations of the eMerge team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery and implementation of team initiatives.
Conduct regular monthly financial analysis for assigned areas and initiatives; proactively prepare executive summary reporting on key financial metrics for eMerge Managing Partner and Principals’ review.
Prepare routine business metrics reports for eMerge Managing Partner and Principals.
Monitor current eMerge priorities and business needs and recommend and implement strategies and actions to execute on those needs, leading development and implementation of relevant information governance solutions as required and beneficial to the broader team.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and drive continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong expertise with all facets of Microsoft 365 Purview, including data governance, eDiscovery, and risk/compliance functionality.
Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to information governance and data management.
Strong organizational and project management skills, identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase business efficiencies.
Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex consulting projects.
Proven success in leading and growing a team.
Displays intelligence, creativity, resilience, and persistence in solving varied, complex, and non-routine problems.
Strong leadership, oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Understanding of and sensitivity to the confidential and privileged nature of client information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Comfort with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI and Tableau).
Performance of all duties in alignment with eMerge Mission and Core Values.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.
Juris doctor (JD) preferred but not required.
Minimum of ten (10) years’ of relevant experience at a law firm or legal industry service provider.
Significant experience with eDiscovery, records retention, and compliance functionality of Google Workspace.
Professional certifications such as Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Information Professional (CIP), or similar are desirable but not required.
Experience with principles of financial reporting, financial analysis, and billable hours productivity tracking and reporting is a plus.
