Location: Warsaw

Hybrid model: 3 days from office per week

As a leading Global Pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca operates in a highly regulated and litigious environment. This is a critical role, that ensure AZ operates within all Legal requirements and is able to respond to all litigation activity efficiently and effectively.  

 

The eDiscovery, Data and Investigations Manager is a key role, within a global team of technology and legal professionals, focused on delivering highly effective and efficient eDiscovery Services for AstraZeneca.  This is a management role, that oversees a number of resources in Warsaw, as well as acting as a connection point with Global teams.  The role holder will operate as a “player coach” who will both perform the work of data collections, data management and processing when needed, while also leading and developing the team. 

 

 

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities: 

 

As a team leader the role holder will be accountable for: 

  • Driving the execution of technical service-based projects, ensuring they are completed on time and in accordance with project plans. 

  • Leading a team, including onboarding of staff, talent development and providing feedback and evaluations about personnel to eDiscovery leadership. 

  • Leading the way in facilitating the smooth adoption of new processes by effectively managing change and ensuring a seamless transition for teams and stakeholders. 

  • Contribute to continuous process improvement by suggesting more efficient ways of working 

  • Communicate frequently with other team members, including project managers 

  • Communicate occasionally with stakeholders, including attorneys, paralegals and Compliance investigators 

  • Communicate with internal business resources for collections and cloud providers such as Microsoft and Amazon to troubleshoot technical issues 

The role holder will be accountable for overseeing a team that delivers: 

 

Collections: Collect employee and company data for lawsuits and internal investigations using standardized technique, which may include forensic collections 

  • Employee data sources include Microsoft 365 Exchange, Box, Laptops and mobile devices 

  • Company data sources include network shares, HR systems, financial databases and proprietary applications with SQL back-ends 

  • Collection tools include Encase, Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance Center, Cellebrite, custom SQL queries and command-line robocopy 

 

Data Management: Stage collected data on local servers, transfer data to eDiscovery platforms and cloud-based repositories, sweep temporary directories to minimize hosted data volumes, archive Relativity databases once they are no longer needed, data deletion as directed. 

 

Processing: Process collected data to prepare it for searches, attorney review and production 

  • Processing tools include Relativity and Nuix Discover 

  • Processing includes data normalization, text and metadata extraction, performing OCR and preparing documents for production, including document imaging and Bates stamp branding 

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

 

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Must haves 

  • At least 4 years of experience in investigations, eDiscovery, operating legal technology, forensic collections, cybersecurity or other fields related to technical aspects of eDiscovery 

  • Understanding of key eDiscovery concepts such as how we extract and use metadata 

  • Technical background, including education and/or experience of eDiscovery 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 

  • Prior management or team leadership experience 

  • Ability to delegate and perform multiple jobs at once with competing priorities and tight deadlines 

  • Ability to appropriately troubleshoot technical issues and escalate obstacles to management 

  • Solid written and verbal communication in English 

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new software and digital tools 

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team with members across several time zones 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple long-term projects simultaneously seeing them through to completion. 

  •  

  • Preferable 

  • Expertise (at least familiarity) with Relativity and/or Nuix Discover (formerly called Ringtail) 

  • Ability to create and run SQL queries and stored procedures 

  • Prior experience working with legal technology 

  • Prior experience working within budgets and corporate department financials.
