How You Will Contribute:
This is a highly specialized job that requires an experienced candidate to act as the subject matter expert to enhance the existing program. Reporting to Senior Security Manager based in the UK, as a Digital Forensics Specialist, you will operate in an individual contributor and team leader role and be responsible for planning and executing Ciena’s Security program activities for all its geographies across the globe. The areas of specific emphasis include conducting forensic examination of digital systems, identifying breaches, potential leakage of confidential data, recovering critical data, assisting and leading compliance and ethics investigation, and performing data analytics for ad-hoc projects.
You will have to collaborate with Legal, Cyber Security, Internal Audit, Information Technology, and Accounting Teams to evaluate and improve risk management, the control environment, compliance, and governance processes, using a disciplined, collaborative approach in support of the Audit Committee, General Counsel and Management. In addition, you will also support Ciena’s Security related matters, develop and plan security engagements, coordinate security tasks, and conduct fieldwork and investigations across various processes and across all international locations, all under the guidance of your line management.
- In conjunction with Legal counsel, you will:
- Assist in investigations for security related incidents, violations of the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and allegations of fraud and/or improper business practices.
- Lead the computer forensics for case investigations and electronic discovery requests.
- Assist in the aggregation, processing, review, and production of electronic records as part of legal discovery.
- Create and submit security reports for approval ensuring results of fieldwork are presented factually, objectively, clearly, concisely, accurately, in logical format and in accordance with professional standards. In those reports, reach conclusions regarding allegations, report results and provide recommendations to management where appropriate.
- Coordinate with external law enforcement and investigative agencies.
- You will perform forensic analysis on a variety of digital media (e.g. hard drives, mobile devices, cloud environments) to identify, preserve and recover evidence related to cyber incidents.
- You will use industry-standard tools and techniques (e.g. EnCase, Tableau TD4/TX1, Cellebrite Inspector, FTK) to perform evidence acquisition, data extraction and analysis.
- You will be required to develop an in-house forensic technology and eDiscovery lab to help team uncover facts with use of technology.
- You must maintain an understanding of current digital forensics methodologies, threats, and technologies to ensure team remains up to date with evolving tools and techniques.
- You must ensure strict adherence to legal and organizational policies regarding evidence handling, privacy laws, and chain-of-custody requirements.
- You will make, or assist in, oral and written presentations to management during and at conclusion of investigations and major program milestones, discussing threat exposures, asset protection/ loss, deficiencies, recommending corrective action and suggest improvements in internal controls and operations.
- You will execute, plan, and maintain overall strategy and tactics of security program while maintaining updated knowledge of rules, regulations, and standards in the field of security and related matters of interest to the department.
- You will be expected to understand seriousness and urgency of investigation environment and be expected to work across time zones as required to perform job responsibilities.

The Must Haves:
- Education Requirements: Relevant certification(s) or a degree in Digital Forensics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is a must.
- Technical Experience Requirements: Proven experience (minimum 8 years) in digital forensics and data analytics. You may be required to undergo a practical assessment to test your technical skillset. Familiarity with drafting investigation reports and corporate presentations will be needed for this job.
- Domain Knowledge Requirements: Strong understanding of computer systems, network, and security technologies. Knowledge of forensic methodologies, including evidence collection, analysis and reporting. Familiarity with legal issues surrounding digital evidence, including compliance with laws, regulations and corporate policies will be useful. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders is desirable.
- Tool Specific Knowledge Requirements: Proficiency with forensics tools and software such as FTK, TD4/TX1, Microsoft e-discovery suite, EnCase or similar tools. Experience in cloud-based forensics and mobile forensics is preferred. Familiarity with SIEM and SOAR platforms like Splunk is a plus. Proficient user of excel (Power BI and SQL, good to have). Familiarity with ERP, data processing and data storage applications such as Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, Shaw-Man, Confluence, etc. and operation of forensic systems and applications, such as Forensic Explorer, FTK, X-Ways or similar digital forensics tools.
- Proficiency in English language is a must while familiarity with other local and international languages will be a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS office suite (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel domestic (India) internationally up to 20% of the time.
