The Section is a front-line litigating unit that acts as a rapid response team, investigating and prosecuting complex white-collar crime cases throughout the country. The Section is uniquely qualified to act in that capacity based on its vast experience with sophisticated fraud schemes; its expertise in managing complex and multi-district litigation; and its ability to deploy resources effectively to address law enforcement priorities and respond to geographically shifting crime problems. These capabilities are an essential complement to the efforts of the United States Attorneys’ Offices to combat white-collar crime. The Section frequently coordinates interagency and multi-district investigations and international enforcement efforts. The investigations are complex and often result in the collection of millions of pages of documents per case.

Because many of the FRD Section cases’ targets and subjects involve the use of private law firms, the Section’s investigations are frequently confronted with issues concerning the applicability of attorney-client privilege and work product doctrine over materials obtained during the investigations. These privilege issues can be complex and require a review of these materials through a “filter review” process, whereby attorneys who are walled off from the investigation team review potentially privileged materials to determine whether a valid claim of privilege may be asserted.

The team reviews potentially privileged materials to determine whether a valid claim of attorney-client privilege or work product may be asserted, and to determine whether any exceptions to the privilege may apply.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

Law Degree

Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources (including Westlaw and Lexis)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures, resources, and databases (including Relativity)

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOJ MBI clearance

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

Foreign language fluency desired

Leadership experience in small team environments preferred

Company Overview:

CACI is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
