Senior Consultant – eDiscovery

Our client, a top tier legal discovery and managed services provider, is currently seeking a talented e-Discovery Senior Consultant to join their team. The Senior Consultant role is within the Project Management department and reports to the Client Director or Department Director and supports a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators. This position combines the skills necessary to be a subject matter expert with the ability to project manage, consult, train and educate internal team members as well as clients. As a Senior Consultant in this role, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions, solving difficult problems, mastering product knowledge and workflows to increase usage, and consultatively working with clients and project managers to improve their experience. Success relies heavily on the ability to manage a large portfolio of tasks, have a drive for learning, teaching, and the ability to foster a collaborative work ethic with other employees and clients. Must have strong experience using Relativity. This position will be remote based out of one of the following locations: IL, NJ, NYC, CA, FL, TX, SC, DC Metro area.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Consultant in this role, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions, solving difficult problems, mastering product knowledge and workflows to increase usage, and consultatively working with clients and project managers to improve their experience.

  • This position provides direction and strategy for all aspects of workflow consultation and standards, and applications used. Typically, the Sr Consultant will serve as an internal sounding board or resource to the Client Director and project management team on what tools are available, pros and cons for each application, what best practices are for implementation, client support on training and pre-sale meetings, and if necessary, research other tools needed to meet client expectations or compete on a bid.
  • Provides sales and marketing support by creating written documentation, attending presentations and meetings or speaking at industry events.
  • Plans, monitors and manages projects or tasks to completion. Strong consulting, communication and planning skills are required which could include participating in client meetings (pre- and post-sale), project kick off meetings, status meetings, trainings and business account reviews.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Have a strong understanding of e-discovery, market competitors, and the tools used to support the industry including Relativity.
  • Master a thorough understanding of workflows, critical paths needed to progress work through the system and tools used to manage workflows.
  • Drive innovation through product research and implementation.
  • Be able to teach and consult with project management, sales or clients to drive solutions and adoption.
  • Train and develop documentation to drive successful usage.
  • Identify and participate in workflow improvement actions or new products as identified by the Client Director, Managing Director, and the company or self-identified.
  • Participate in industry events, product demonstrations, and subject matter marketing (blog posts, articles, speaking engagements).
  • Complete time and unit billing in a timely fashion according to monthly billing requirements.

Evaluation criteria is based upon the Senior Consultant being able to understand and execute on the following skills:

  • e-Discovery Workflow Knowledge: Maintain an exceptional skill level to provide consultation and creation of client and project solutions that drive the use of technology and workflows that reduce overall client costs, improve speed, and/or deliver a higher quality product – 30%.
  • Education and Training Skills: Successfully teach and support Project Managers, sales or clients on how to implement various tools by using clear, proactive communications to improve the client experience by education, training and implementation of all the products to drive client loyalty – 35%.
  • Product Expertise: Work collaboratively with operations to learn and master tools (such as blackout, Brainspace, Relativity Analytics, etc.) in order to support the Project Management team by consulting, upselling and increasing adoption to demonstrate expertise – 35%.

  • At least eight years of work experience with at least four years of e-discovery, legal project management or consulting experience; experience in a law firm, corporation a plus
  • Experience with analytic tools (Brainspace, RAR) and industry certifications a plus
  • Willingness to travel as needed for training and client meetings (35% of the time)

This position has a billable target of 1080 billable hours per year after the first 90 days.

Minimum Requirements:
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters or JD a plus)
  • Strong analytical and logical skills
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standards exist
  • Effective written and oral communication skills including being able to present at client presentations as well as in smaller, sessions with clients
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to train internal and external stakeholders clearly and effectively on workflows or software applications including the ability to create training tools
  • Aptitude to work within timelines and budget parameters
  • Driven to deliver quality, accuracy and timeliness for all aspect of deliverables

Expected salary for this exempt role is $120,000 – $140,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
