eDiscovery Project Manager

Our client is seeking an ESI Project Manager in their New York office. This role is the primary liaison for the eDiscovery & Litigation Technology Department to individual case teams and outside service providers. The Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects throughout the electronic discovery lifecycle. You will work directly with Partners, Associates, Paralegals and outside service providers on all aspects of the electronic discovery process, including but not limited to identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, production and trial. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with administrative functions in Relativity, Concordance, Concordance Image and/or Ipro, TextMap and/or comparable deposition management software, Windows, Microsoft Office, and text editing software is required. Working knowledge of Brainspace is a plus. RCA certified or willingness to obtain the certification is preferred. Required Skills

  • Works directly with case teams and clients to plan and guide the implementation of discovery projects for electronically stored information (ESI), including but not limited to identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, production and trial
  • Consults with case teams regarding best practices for document management, electronic discovery, and matter workflow
  • Works with Manager of eDiscovery & Litigation Technology to implement and plan technical upgrades, department budgets, and project plans
  • Possesses an understanding of the general workflow related to the processing of ESI
  • Provides assistance with discovery data analysis, processing, and productions
  • Initiates, negotiates, oversees, and coordinates service provider work
  • Ability to review and negotiate terms on the service provider statement of work
  • Possesses deep understanding of service provider workflow
  • Maintains detailed familiarity with service provider platforms and providing support to case teams utilizing those platforms
  • Capable of working as part of a group or independently
  • Communicates with case teams on discovery management issues
  • Oversees each project and ensuring quality and success
  • Reports to case teams and Manager of E-Discovery & Litigation Technology on project status
  • Identifies and implements quality and change management procedures on an ongoing basis
  • Collects, maintains, and analyzes project metrics with a view to long-term service improvement
  • Tracks and analyzes incoming client data
  • Executes multiple priorities and projects on a daily basis
  • Possesses ability to communicate with client Information Technology Department
  • Ensures ongoing deep, broad, and current knowledge of emerging products and technological solutions
  • Enters and updates project details in the appropriate case and task management databases
  • Contributes to departmental publications/presentations/documentation
  • Ensures that individual time-tracking and billing is entered and released on a daily basis

Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of the litigation discovery process, including evolving standards created through case law, rulemaking, and groups such as EDRM and The Sedona Conference
  • Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation

Education and/or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a background in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems is required
  • Extensive experience in the litigation support of a law firm or other similar legal environment

Computer Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Relativity, Concordance, Concordance Image and/or Ipro, TextMap and/or comparable deposition management software, Windows, Microsoft Office, text editing software and iManage
  • Strong working knowledge of Brainspace a plus
  • Technical understanding of computer and server hardware
  • Ability to access, input, analyze, and retrieve information from various computer applications and to learn and utilize new applications on an expedited basis
