Document Review Managing Attorney- eDiscovery

Our client, a global Am Law firm, is seeking a Document Review Managing Attorney. The Managing Attorney will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and tracking document review project workflow from inception to review completion. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience engaging and onboarding contract attorneys, drafting document review protocol, conducting trainings, quality checking, and creating and reviewing document review reports. Strong Relativity database and analytics experience required. Strong experience with Brainspace workflows and analytics, including Predictive Coding, Continuous Active Learning, TAR1, TAR2, and CMML models a plus. A JD degree and bar admission, with good standing in at least one jurisdiction, is required. This position follows a hybrid model with some days in-office and some days remote, requires flexibility in work hours, and will include evening and weekend work.

Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Work with case teams to plan document review projects including designing review workflow, recommending analytics and/or review accelerators, implementing predictive coding/TAR and CAL/TAR2 models as appropriate, managing deadlines and quality of review
  • Serve as liaison between case team and vendor/contract document review team
  • Kick off and oversee each project and ensure quality and success through actions
  • Consult with case teams regarding best practices for document review management and matter workflow
  • Prepare recommendations, budgets, and project plans
  • Communicate with case teams on document review management issues, such as review pace and status, quality, substantive issues, and production planning
  • Assist with the review and analysis of keyword terms
  • Assist with the application of advance analytics, including communication analysis, machine learning (TAR/CAL), concept searches, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of, and ability to explain, TAR1 metrics and validation
  • Assist with the analysis of ESI Protocol and Production Specifications
  • Report to case teams and Director on project status
  • Track and analyze key documents
  • Designing database coding panel layouts, review workflows, and quality control workflows; run search term reports and batch documents for review
  • Advising and recommending vendor selection, facilitating vendor engagement, and onboarding contract attorneys for document review
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support cases
  • Supervise other firm staff attorneys performing document review function
  • Bring internal visibility to the offering
  • Meet billable hours set by firm

Qualifications:

  • JD degree and bar admission in at least one jurisdiction required; attorney in good standing in at least one jurisdiction required
  • RCA and or Brainspace certification strongly preferred
  • Project management and business analysis certification a plus, PMP or ACEDS
  • Some experience working with and managing electronic document review projects at Big4 or Am Law25 firm including running TAR1 and TAR2/CAL reviews
  • Thorough knowledge of Relativity (including Relativity Analytics and RAR), and Brainspace; prior significant experience with Predictive Coding a must
  • Experience training users on firm applications in a classroom setting is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of designing databases and workflows for organizing and review of data
  • Experience in analyzing data processing reporting generated by vendors and internal processing
  • Experience with government investigation matters and managing the document review deliverables
  • Experience managing cases across multiple offices, domestic and/or international, on large matters
  • Thorough knowledge of the electronic discovery process, including evolving standards created through case law, rulemaking, and groups such as EDRM and The Sedona Conference
  • Thorough, detailed knowledge of hardware and software utilized for information retrieval and archiving; ongoing deep, broad, and current knowledge of emerging products and technological solutions
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess superb written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors
  • Able to manage time and resources to meet or exceed established service level agreements
