Our client is seeking a contract-to-hire ALS Lab Manager who will serve as the lead manager responsible for the delivery of lab data processing services. You will ensure the timely and accurate completion of tasks for up to eight direct reports and will perform analysis, development, and implementation of processing approaches for electronic files and related services pursuant to applicable ESI specifications. The manager will manage a team of eDiscovery professionals situated in a client-site eDiscovery laboratory, including scheduling, requirements assessments, assigning work and ensuring deadlines are met, creating progress reports, and Quality Control (QC) of deliverables. You will advise Department of Justice attorneys, paralegals, and case managers on all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), especially Data Collection, Processing, Hosting, Review, Analytics, and Production. The ideal candidate will have experience with litigation support tools and eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, LAW and Nuix. You will have significant experience performing eDiscovery roles including but not limited to electronic files processing (EFP), image and data file conversion, data culling using review tools, quality assurance, database loads and retrieval, and data analysis and review. Candidates with experience supervising or managing document review in Relativity or developing workflows using Relativity or other document review applications will be moved to the front of the line. This is a hybrid role based out of Washington, D.C.
Job Description
- Serves as the lead manager responsible for delivery of lab data processing services
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks for up to 8 direct reports
- Performs analysis, development, and implementation of processing approaches for electronic files and related services pursuant to applicable ESI specifications
- Consults with attorneys and support staff on best practices for conforming to ESI specifications, and, as required, participates in teleconferences with co-counsel, client agencies, and opposing counsel upon attorney request
- Responsible for ensuring that incoming productions are made pursuant to the applicable ESI specifications and when deficiencies are found, provides case attorney with detailed notice of deficiencies
- Keeps the COR informed on activities in the Lab, e.g. deadlines, technical challenges, and availability of resources to complete work
- Provides and manages webhosting support for unsupported cases managed by the lab primarily using Relativity
- Manages a team of eDiscovery professionals situated in a client-site eDiscovery laboratory, including: scheduling, requirements assessments, assigning work and ensuring deadlines are met, creating progress reports, and Quality Control (QC) of deliverables
- Advises Department of Justice attorneys, paralegals, and case managers on all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM); especially: Data Collection, Processing, Hosting, Review, Analytics, and Production.
Basic Qualifications
- Some experience at the management/supervisory level
- Thorough and demonstrated knowledge of the litigation discovery process, and the EDRM workflow
- Working knowledge and certifications of document review software such as iCONECT, Relativity, Venio or similar tools
- Experience with litigation support tools such as LAW, IPRO, Concordance, MS Office Suite, and LiveNote highly valued
- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in computer science or related legal field.
- Significany of experience performing eDiscovery roles including but not limited to electronic files processing (EFP), image and data file conversion, data culling using review tools, quality assurance, database loads and retrieval, and data analysis and review
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications – Not Required
- Experience developing workflows using Relativity or other document review applications
- Law degree, advanced technical certifications, or other pertinent graduate degree valued
- Administering Technology Assisted Review experience is a plus
- Experience supervising or managing document review in Relativity
