Job Description: Role Summary/Purpose: The role of the Litigation Assistant is to support the litigation team. The Litigation Assistant reviews and implements assignment of new litigation matters, communicates with internal litigation team and outside counsel, coordinates litigation settlement payments, generates settlement-related tax reporting, administrates the litigation database for matter management and invoice review, and generates various reporting to different stakeholders regarding litigation matters. You may be occasionally requested to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities: Manage litigation case intake and assignment process Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports of litigation matters to litigation team and to various other functions (operations, compliance, and risk) Generate year-end settlement reports for 1099 tax reporting and work with the Tax COE to finalize information for tax filings Coordinate with outside counsel and internal finance team regarding settlement payments and other financial administration Coordinate with the internal finance team regarding arbitration fees, litigation settlement contributions and account adjustments. Meet weekly with the Legal Billing Administrator and the Legal Operations Manager to review, reconcile, and resolve any billing issues with law firm invoices. Assist with quarterly settlement check accruals. Serve as the Litigation Database system administrator. Maintain litigation records in accordance with policies and procedures. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Excel experience for at least 3 years, working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint Ability to learn new application (T360) with training to serve as application administrator Proficient in or ability to learn OneFD, ACM and I2R Not on any active formal or final formal corrective action The hours are generally 8 am-5 pm Mon-Fri with the willingness to work a flexible schedule including overtime Desired Characteristics: Demonstrated knowledge of Synchrony policies and procedures Familiarity with litigation documentation (complaint, subpoena, etc.) Professional etiquette and ability to work with a team Positive attitude and good attendance Strong oral and written communication abilities Excellent judgment and discretion; uphold high standards of integrity and confidentiality Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively receive and implement feedback Well-developed time management skills and ability to prioritize Self-motivation Grade/Level: 07 The hourly rate range for this position is $24.00 – $33.50/hr USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience or skill level. Eligibility Requirements: You must be 18 years or older You must have a high school diploma or equivalent You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
