Job Role Summary
This position is responsible for providing support to the Environmental Court attorneys. This position collaborates with attorneys and paralegals in Environmental Court as well as the Marion County Public Health Department Bureau of Environmental Health and staff of the Marion County Superior Courts.
Associated Job Duties
- Assist with litigation management, as directed
- Create documents and maintain ordinance violation cases.
- File documents within the state court system
- Manage case databases
- Respond to inquiries regarding enforcement and communicate with defendants, attorneys, environmental health specialists, court staff, and corporate administrators.
- Assist in training of newly hired staff or legal interns, when necessary.
- Assist attorneys in court proceedings
- Maintain office supplies and manage equipment repair requests, as needed.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree required, bachelor’s degree, preferred
- 1-3 years previous experience, in a high-volume environment, preferred
- Previous experience in litigation support, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Programs
- Familiarity with Indiana state court filing system, Tyler efiling or Accela, preferred
