In this technical role, the Associate Clean Room Engineer will conduct repair, rebuild, and recover inaccessible customer data from failed storage media. Understand and follow the clean room data recovery process and procedures. Properly use and understand Ontrack software, hardware tools and systems as needed to diagnose customer hardware, replicate media, and analyze data structures. Repair mechanical and electronic failures on customer’s storage devices as necessary. Use written and electronic communication to complete document jobs from start to finish and communicate job results and statistics. Demonstrate ability to understand data recovery processes as instructed. 

Associate Clean Room Engineer is an Entry level Position. 

In this technical role, the Associate Clean Room Engineer will conduct diagnostic, repair, and recovery computer storage media. The engineer will be trained in the use of the proprietary hardware and software tools and well as 3rd party tools to recover data from the failed storage media. The engineer will also work to procure parts and specialty tools for the recovery process.   

This role is part of a small and dedicated regional team, with staff members located in countries across APAC. A strong sense of teamwork and a desire to constantly excel are essential.

Responsibilities

  • In this capacity, an Associate Clean Room Engineer will perform the following tasks, under direction of the Manager of Data Recovery Engineering. Extensive training will be provided to obtain the required skillset:
  • Repair mechanical and electronic failures on customer’s storage devices as necessary. 
  • Properly use and understand Ontrack Software and hardware tools needed for data recovery.
  • Use written, oral, and electronic communication to completely document jobs from start to finish and to communicate job results and statistics. 
  • Working towards getting a complete working knowledge of Ontrack Cleanroom tools and data recovery processes in a minimum of two drive platforms or manufacturer types. 
  • Copying of recovered data to new media. 
  • Willing to be flexible and take on other tasks when requested. 

Business Requirements

This position may require after-hours and weekend work, in line with business needs. 

Education, Skill, and Experience 

  • Basic Computer, Advanced Math, and Communication skills both written and oral. 
  • Excellent work quality and accuracy are essential, as handling of customer data is extremely sensitive task. 
  • The ability to decipher media types such as manufacturer and models, perform evaluations on storage media and communicate these through written and verbal communications. 
  • A degree or diploma (preferably in a technical field) or equivalent experience is desirable. 
  • Six months to three years technical/computer related experience is desirable. 
  • Experience with computer hardware trouble shooting, assembling, and disassembling computers. 
  • Native level spoken and written Japanese language required. 
  • Basic conversational spoken and written English or better required.
