The General Paralegal / Analyst provides litigation and analyst support to the Criminal Justice Information Law Unit with professional, accurate, timely and reliable support assisting attorneys through all phases of litigation. As a member of this team, the General Paralegal / Analyst will be capable of performing the following duties:

Research, analyze and compile information pertaining to federal and state statues.

Research and locate responsive information and identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles.

Draft written correspondence to internal and external components, research policies, and communicate with external state and federal agencies.

Synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviewing case related materials; and identifying potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.

Maintain documentation of records produced in discovery, correspondence sent, and case management functions performed.

Design, generate, and transmit reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases.

Write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.
What You Will Need:
-
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TOP SECRET federal security clearance.

TWO (2) or more years of general litigation and legal analysis experience
What Would Be Nice To Have:
-
Successful completion of Paralegal degree or certificate.
-
Knowledge of Federal Law Enforcement policies and procedures.
-
Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.

Experience conducting legal analysis.
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-
Knowledge of legal research tools, such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, and PACER.
-
Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; organizing exhibits, and assisting at trial.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.

A general knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources is desired.

Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys.

Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.

Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs.

Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
