Position Details

As a Senior Paralegal – Legal Analyst, you will be a member of our Employment and Labor Law team reporting directly to the Assistant General Counsel, Employment & Labor Law. You will assist and provide support to the Employment and Labor Law function on a wide array of employment and labor matters, including project support and related assignments.  Additionally, this position may support other areas within the Legal function as needed.

You will work a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days per week at our Lake Forest, IL headquarters.

You Will

  • Assist in maintaining and overseeing databases and other forms of retained information involving a wide array of employment-related matters, and work with internal and external business partners and service providers to keep topical issue/matter management databases up to date and to calendar and track matter status and deadlines.
  • Create, develop, analyze, and maintain data reports to track and analyze employment and labor related matters.
  • Assist in the collection and organization of information in furtherance of fact-finding activities, and support investigations of employment related claims and administrative charges.
  • Assist in-house and outside counsel in management of federal and state pre-trial and court proceedings and responding to written discovery requests.
  • Prepare presentations, summaries, training materials, and legal documents for review and use by attorneys, as requested.
  • Assist in preparing written responses to government agency inquiries as well as private litigant subpoenas.
  • Analyze data and written reports as requested.
  • Perform legal and factual research and information-gathering relative to employment and compliance-related topics.
  • Organize, maintain, and update department files.
  • Assist in identifying, collecting, and reviewing company documents in response to threatened litigation, administrative agency charges, and/or discovery requests, and assisting with electronic / E-discovery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments, legislation, and regulations in employment law and provide periodic written updates on changes in laws.
  • Partner and work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed to include entering database related billing and invoice information, scheduling meetings, drafting letters, and other projects as requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

You Have

  • Associates Degree or equivalent relevant work experience. 
  • Paralegal Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in a corporate law department or law firm providing employment law support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, research and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently on a wide variety of work matters and projects, multi-task, and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and changes in priorities.
  • Understanding of current employment and human resource related laws and developments.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Word, Excel, eDiscovery techniques, and e-Billing and matter management software.
  • Prior experience supporting and/or managing an immigration portfolio is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with Human Resources to support compliance is a plus.
