Position Summary

The Operations Engineer works as a member of the Operations team within Epiq’s Legal Solutions division.  In this role, the Operations Engineer plays a crucial role at Epiq by making tactical development contributions, while also providing tier 2 support for our various mission critical products and services.  This includes crafting custom solutions for our internal and external clients, triaging and resolving high priority issues and research/vetting new technologies.  The Operations Engineer will also be responsible for gathering and presenting critical business data from various Epiq systems.

Our business is fast-paced and dynamic, and the team is heavily relied upon to address the most urgent needs of the organization quick and effectively.  As an Operations Engineer, you are frequently called upon to craft ad-hoc solutions within a short time frame to satisfy an immediate need, while continuing to develop more robust solutions to better handle future needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities

The Operations Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Work independently to analyse and resolve production/application issues while coordinating with internal customer teams
  • Provide prompt, clear and timely communications of issues and resolution statuses to our internal clients
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Epiq’s products, both internal and client facing
  • Work closely with both the Operations and Client Services teams to develop and implement creative solutions for improving and developing existing processes and technologies
  • Assess technical feasibility of custom requests from internal clients to determine scope, level of effort, return on interest and best practices
  • Thoroughly investigate, assess and communicate findings on new products/technologies to be introduced to the business
  • Gather critical business data from various Epiq systems to normalize and present to key stakeholders
  • Cross functional collaboration to streamline and automate process

Requirements for the role include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer/technical field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the eDiscovery industry is preferred
  • Solid understanding of the full EDRM
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, while maintaining thorough attention to detail
  • Must be able to rapidly master newly introduced systems and process changes
  • Outstanding client-focus and ability to deliver quality work while managing hard deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and proactively in written and verbal interactions with an aptitude for explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment both as a team player and individual contributor
  • Must possess strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skill
  • Significant experience analysing and manipulating databases (MS SQL, Snowflake, Oracle, MySQL, etc)

Preferred Requirements/Certifications

  • Hands-on experience with industry leading processing and hosting platforms such as eCapture, Nuix, Relativity, etc
  • Relativity Certified Administrator strongly preferred
  • Object oriented programming such as: C#, Visual Basic, Ruby, PHP, ASP.NET, etc
  • Experience operating and automating within the Nuix platform
  • Experience supporting and customizing kCura’s Relativity via UI, DB and/or API’s
