Working with the Head of Business Advisory you will help grow Cognia’s Business Advisory capability and services. You will support Cognia’s growth strategy and aspiration to be a long-term trusted partner to clients by engaging with internal and external stakeholders, clients, and prospects to shape and deliver Cognia services.

You will work with in-house legal functions to help them transform and deliver value to the organisation. As part of a team that delivers targeted consultancy services across People, Process and Technology you will support Cognia teams and clients to address transformation challenges, increase efficiency and adopt operating models that maximise the value of the legal eco-system.

You will be leading engagements where you use your analytic expertise and creativity to solve internal and client challenges and to propose a variety of solutions to address those challenges.

You will commercially manage the efficient delivery of projects by ensuring that utilisation, billing, risk management, resourcing etc. are closely monitored and managed as and when required.

You will engage in relationship building to enable business development activities such as pursuit development, and shape opportunities that cross-sell Cognia’s services.

Consulting, Analysis, and Solution Architecture

  • Identify and analyse client needs.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses of current state legal operations against four maturity pillars (people, sourcing, process and technology).
  • Define problems concisely.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Document and validate stakeholder requirements.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to provide actionable insights.
  • Leverage subject matter expertise in Legal Tech, AI and GenAI, as well as expertise in legal operating models and the legal eco-system.
  • Deliver insights into the benefits, and opportunities presented by core legal technologies in areas such as: Contract Lifecycle Management, Document Management, Knowledge Management, Collaboration, Matter Management, eDiscovery, workflow and GenAI.
  • Design services and develop solutions for internal and external teams that integrate legal technology and service delivery models to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of legal processes.
  • Support business case development.
  • Influence stakeholders and teams to gain buy-in for your proposals.
  • Support the delivery and adoption of solutions.
  • Develop and present a plan/roadmap to implement recommended changes.
  • Support change management initiatives
  • Design and facilitate workshops.
  • Measure and assess impact and benefits of solutions.
  • Develop and deliver reports.
  • Follow a structured approach.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and client stakeholders.
  • Communicate in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Provide support to Cognia teams and foster collaboration between teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Transfer understanding of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Develop and support team understanding of best practice delivery aligned with client requirements and Cognia processes and policies.

Business Development Support

  • Consulting-led business development.
  • Support development of client proposals and presentations.
  • Lead and support sales bids especially where advisory thinking and solutionising is required.

Project Management

  • Lead and project manage the development of solutions and services from client needs analysis to design through to build and operate stages.
  • Shape, manage, and draft project documentation and presentations.
  • Track and manage project time records and billing.
  • Follow and evolve best practice guidance.
  • Capture and share Knowledge.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of consulting experience
  • Experience in consulting-led BD
  • Experience in the legal sector or professional/financial services, preferably at a Big 4/major service provider.
  • Track record of strong relationship building and commercialisation of relationships.
  • Experience supporting/leading internal and client teams to deliver a range of outcomes in line with requirements.
  • Experience in project planning and/or delivery management.
  • Experience adapting to changing client requirements, within time and quality constraints.
  • Experience of Change Management approaches and techniques.
  • Experienced in Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint as an advanced user.
  • Experience of Design Thinking, Lean Six Sigma, or Whole Systems Thinking and Modelling (beneficial).
  • Track record of business case development, benefits realisation, budgeting and financial reporting (beneficial).
